Convocation '05 Another Success
CASE Takes another Step toward a Claims Free Environment
The annual Convocation is not meant to be just another networking conference. Committees work year long to get just the right topics and right speakers to give structural engineering firms the tools they need to reach the goal of zero claims…and some have actually done it. The topics and speakers are so focused that many of the lessons presented and learned are taken back and implemented immediately. The goal is to change the culture of the firm so that everyone from project managers on up are aware of potential problems and nip them in the bud before they begin.
The program starts out with horror stories given by CEO's who are willing to share their experiences in hopes that others will not make the same mistake. These are invaluable in themselves. But then other speakers start at the negotiation process and tell those in attendance what are the "deal makers" and "deal breakers" and how to negotiate what is needed to make the project safe and profitable. Attendees were taken step by step through risky projects to minimize problems. And should a problem or a disaster occur on the project engineers were told exactly how to react and what to do to mitigate it. Each attendee was given a poster with the 10 Foundations of Risk Management on it along with a flash drive containing many loss prevention tools.
Below are links to some of the presentations at the Convocation. They will be added as permission is given to place them here.
