Tour #1 - The Best of Montréal City Tour with Lunch at Restaurant du Vieux Port

Tour PhotoSunday, October 19, 2008
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $84.00 per person

From Ville-Marie to Montréal of tomorrow, your city guide will take you through the discovery of the second largest French speaking city in the world.

Discover the history, evolution and unique 'joie de vivre' of Montréal accompanied by a professional city tour guide. This tour explores Old Montréal, an area rich in architectural details dating back to the 17th Century. A visit to the world famous Notre-Dame Basilica is included. A drive by Montréal's harbor takes you east to the Olympic Park, site of the 1976 Summer Olympic Games. You will view the Olympic Stadium, with the world's tallest inclined tower. You will also drive past Maisonneuve Park and the Montréal Botanical Gardens.

In the Latin Quarter and along St-Laurent Street, you will discover the distinctive lifestyles of the different ethnic groups which make-up the city. You will also glimpse through Outremont and Westmount, the city's most exclusive and expensive residential areas. A drive to the summit of Mount Royal will give you a spectacular view of the city skyline. Continuing through the Mount Royal Park, you will arrive in front of the impressive St. Joseph's Oratory, a Roman Catholic shrine (photo stop).
This activity is combined with a Lunch at one of Old Montréal's trade mark venues: Le Restaurant du Vieux-Port. Old stone walls and fireplaces give their dining rooms a uniquely warm atmosphere.

Tour #2 - Folkloric Lunch at La Sucrerie de la Montagne (Sugar Shack)

Monday, October 20, 2008
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $90.00 per person

Sugar ShackExperience the traditions of our early pioneers at the Sucrerie de la Montagne, a working maple syrup producer located in the midst of a 180 acre maple grove in Rigaud, Québec, approximately 50 minutes from downtown Montréal. The entire site recalls rural Québec at the turn of the century, with all structures on the site constructed from original barn wood. The owners have gone to great lengths to hide all elements of modern life. Even the bread served at Sucrerie de la Montagne is baked on the premises in large stone ovens.

During the transfer, the escort-guide aboard the motor coach will provide a brief commentary on points of interest the group passes en route to Sucrerie de la Montagne, a short history of the Indian legends regarding maple syrup, as well as describing how and why Cabane à Sucre events came to be in Québec, providing a historical and cultural context for the evening. Upon arrival, guests will be picked up by horse drawn carriage and driven to the main building where they will enjoy a glass of Caribou in hand.

Sugar Shack 2Your journey will continue inside, where lunch will take place in the main dinning room. A traditional Québecois country meal will be served family style. Throughout lunch a folk Québecois musician will entertain the audience and solicit participation in the music, singing and dancing.

After lunch, guests will be offered an animated tour of the facilities (bakery, maple syrup production room). Both humorous and informative, the tour will outline both the traditional and modern techniques of collecting maple sap and producing maple syrup.

Tour #3 - Montréal's Ethnic Neighborhoods and Wine Tasting Adventure

Tuesday, October 21, 2008
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $125.00 per person

Tour 3This tour will focus on the culinary contributions of Montréal's multi-cultural mosaic, highlighting the history, cultural heritage and cosmopolitan European flavor. From "Little Italy" to Chinatown and including Greek, Portuguese and Jewish neighborhoods, you will explore the contributions of different ethnic groups to the gastronomy and culture of Montréal.

Ethnic specialties will be highlighted through stops and tastings at artisan bakeries and cheese shops, Italian grocers, St-Viateur Bagel Bakery for bagels fresh from the wood-burning oven, a glass of Montréal's famous hot chocolate, Chinese delicacies in Chinatown, a visit of the Jean-Talon Public Market, established in 1934 and a wine tasting with professional Sommelier at Restaurant Chez L'Epicier.

As you travel through the city, you will also view Montréal's vibrant, multi-faceted downtown; St. Lawrence Blvd., first home and cross-roads of Montréal's ethnic communities, the Latin Quarter and other colorful neighborhoods.
