Welcome to the website of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Maine (ACEC of Maine).

We are the Maine Member Organization of the national ACEC which is headquartered in Washington, DC. Our membership is made up of consulting engineering firms and we exist to assist owners, principles and managers of member firms to develop successful businesses. This differentiates us from all other engineering associations and societies.

ACEC of Maine's membership is made up of consulting engineering firms located in Maine represented by their principles and/or owners. We also have Associate Members which are professional services firms not otherwise engaged in the practice of consulting engineering including providing services such as architecture, planning, testing services, etc. And our membership includes Affiliate Members which include firms the provide support services such as business insurance, legal and accounting, equipment supplies, etc. For a list of all our current members please click on the Members button on the left side of this page. Committee recommendations with regard to LD 1671
Yesterday, the Joint Standing Committee on Taxation voted on the language in Part JJ and Part KK, which were the only outstanding issues from our budget recommendations included in the memorandum dated January 29, 2010. The Committee voted unanimously to reject the language in Part JJ, which is an additional cut to revenue sharing, as well as the language in Part KK proposing a change in eligibility for the circuitbreaker program. Over the past few weeks, the Joint Standing Committee on Taxation reviewed the items identified as taxation-related provisions of the supplemental budget bill. As requested, we are providing Committees recommendations on the prescribed report back forms along with the attached chart.

Press Release Stantec
Local company Stantec has been awarded the highest honor bestowed by the Maine Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for its work to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions at an Ohio power plant. The project received the organizations Grand Conceptor award, the top award in its Engineering Excellence award program.

Kleinschmidt Associates was the successful bidder for engineering services for the design of a rock ramp fish passage at the Meadow Dam, also known as the Fields Pond Dam, in Orrington, Maine.

Press Release Becker Structural Engineers
Becker Structural Engineers, Inc. worked closely with design-build partners, Pizzagalli Construction Company, and Harriman Architects to complete one of the tallest structures built in Portland, Maine in many years; a ten-story 105,000 SF design incorporating six stories of medical office space over four stories of elevated covered parking completed and fully-leased in December of 2008.
