The Honorable (insert your Representative) Re: Association Health Plan Legislation Dear Representative (insert your Representative): On behalf of insert name of your company, located in your district, I urge you to support "The Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2003", H.R. 660. H.R. 660 would allow small business owners to band together across state lines through their membership in a bona fide trade or professional association to purchase health coverage for their families and employees. These "Association Health Plans" will give small businesses the same bargaining power and cost savings that large companies and unions currently have, resulting in coverage for as many as 8.5 million previously uninsured Americans. As a business owner it is extremely important that I am able to offer quality, affordable health care to my employees. The increasing cost of health insurance, however, continues to be an enormous burden. Association Health Plans enable businesses to reduce the administrative costs of providing coverage and, in general, offer an affordable avenue for smaller firms to access health insurance. Association Health Plans will enable me to continue to provide an essential benefit to my employees, which would allow me to concentrate on developing and growing my business.
