Let Your Voice Be Heard!
Convention Attendees To Openly Debate National Licensure; ACEC Position At Stake
 Robert D. Kersten: pro-national licensure |
Should there be one national license that allows engineers to practice in multiple stateseliminating the need for differing state requirements on training, experience and testing?
Or, should individual state engineering licenses remain on the premise that states are better positioned to determine the level of training, experience and testing needed for their jurisdictions?
This subject will be hotly contested at a special Town Hall Meeting, Monday, May 1, at the upcoming 2006 ACEC Annual Convention and Legislative Summit April 30May 3 in Washington, D.C.
Robert D. Kersten, founding dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Central Florida, will argue the advantages of national licensure, and Craig Musselman, president, CMA Engineers in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, will assert the merits of individual state licenses.
Convention attendees will be encouraged to express their own opinions during the event, which will ultimately help determine ACEC's position on the issue.
