ACEC members in New York showed strong support this week for the re-election of Congresswoman Sue Kelly (R-NY).
At a reception co-hosted by ACEC/PAC and ACEC/New York, critical dollars were raised for Kelly in the closing weeks of her campaign.
Kelly is a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the Small Business Committee, and chairs the Oversight Subcommittee on the Financial Services Committee.
She has been particularly outspoken in her support for increased federal investment in infrastructure projects, both in New York and nationally. In particular, she is leading an effort with California Democrat Ellen Tauscher to pass ACEC-backed legislation that significantly expands the State Revolving Fund (SRF) programthe principal federal program that funds water and wastewater projects throughout the country.
The New York lawmaker has also used her senior position on the House Small Business Committee to promote Small Business Health Plan legislation and other measures to help A/E firms control rising health insurance costs.
"Sue is among several pro-infrastructure House members facing tough races who need our support," said Joe Murdoch, of HDR/LMS. "Her success on Election Day will ensure that we continue to have a good friend in Congress who understands and supports our industry."
