President Signs 3% Repeal into Law; ACEC's Raymond at Ceremony

At the White House on Monday, President Obama signed into law the repeal of the 3 percent withholding mandate.
ACEC President Dave Raymond attended the ceremony, which marked the culmination of a six-year campaign by ACEC to kill the onerous measure.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, who also attended the signing and was one of the first municipal officials to call for repeal of the mandate, said, "ACEC was the first to work with us for this repeal, then the truckers, later the Chamber of Commerce." |

Louisiana, Massachusetts Get Minuteman Fund Grants for SOL, QBS

ACEC has awarded Minuteman Fund grants to ACEC/Louisiana and ACEC/Massachusetts.
ACEC/Louisiana will use its grant to introduce legislation to both reduce the state's statute of limitations, which is much longer than for other professions, and expand the state's QBS law to cover project management.
ACEC/Massachusetts will use its grant for an advocacy campaign to educate municipalities, state agencies, engineering firms, and the public about the benefits of QBS.

How Industry is Addressing Marcellus Shale Environmental Issues

The growing use of hydraulic fracturing in the Marcellus Shale regions of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, has generated predictions that by 2020 this area will be producing over eight billion cubic feet per day, leading the nation in natural gas production.
