ACEC/PAC Smashes Annual Fundraising Record in 2011

ACEC/PAC raised over $700,000 in 2011, topping the previous record of $607,500 set in 2008 by nearly $100,000.
These funds will be used to support political candidates who will advance ACEC's legislative and regulatory agenda.
"The leaders of every Member Organization understand that our PAC is the foundation of our advocacy efforts," said ACEC/PAC National Chairman Chris Borton of Borton-Lawson in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. "The tougher the times, the more we need ACEC/PAC looking out for us on Capitol Hill."
ACEC President Dave Raymond (right) and ACEC Executive Director of Political Affairs Greg Knopp select the winners of the ACEC/PAC Last Chance Raffle. Daniel Williams with Garver LLC in North Little Rock, Ark. won $1,000 and Jamie Davis with Ryan-Biggs Associates in Skaneateles Falls, New York won $500. |
Final fundraising tabulations for each state will be available soon, as several states made strong late pushes, including Alabama, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania.

ACEC Wins Stronger Oversight of World Bank Projects

The Omnibus Appropriations bill signed into law late last year includes ACEC-backed language that puts limits on the World Bank's "Program for Results" (P4R) procurement method.
ACEC and coalition allies raised concerns that P4R would have relaxed oversight in how developing nations use World Bank funds, potentially exposing U.S. firms to corrupt practices by foreign governments.
In response to these concerns, Congress limited the P4R effort to a two-year pilot program involving projects of restricted scope. At the end of the pilot, the program will be independently evaluated.
"ACEC really came through on this issue of key concern to our international practices," said Manish Kothari, chairman of ACEC's International Committee and president of Sheladia Associates in Rockville, Md.
