Insurance requirement requests are causing designers more and more difficulties during contract negotiations. There seems to be a concerted effort to require higher, more expansive insurance provisions that are ultimately unrealistic, onerous, or unattainable in the insurance market.

Join Dan Buelow, Robert Stanton, and Tom Harkins to deep dive into the most common -- and most problematic -- requests for design professionals, and how you can respond. You'll identify:

  • Insurance requirements frequently required by client-drafted contract preparers which can be problematic for the design professional
  • Why such requirements are problematic in that they are either unavailable in the insurance market or unreasonable given the role the design professional plays in the project delivery
  • Alternatives or responses you can provide for such requests in order to address the issue with the preparer, or allow your design firm to determine if the project is something for which they're willing to pay for additional insurance, retain exposure, or walk away from altogether
  • Who should be required to pay when it comes to limits, and when the insurance requirements stipulate that the Owner retains the right to increase the limits after the contract is signed

This on-demand online class lasts 60 minutes and is worth 1.0 PDH (Professional Development Hour).
