SUMMARY:EEA Awards ACEC of Maine
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) sponsors a national Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) program to recognize engineering projects which epitomize quality\, innovation\, value\, and client satisfaction. A requirement for entry into ACEC’s national competition is participation in a Member Organization’s engineering excellence program. Since 1988\, ACEC of Maine has sponsored such a program. The annual ACEC of Maine Engineering Excellence Awards program precedes the national program by several months to afford award winners ample time to prepare their submittals to the ACEC national program. The 2026 ACEC of Maine Engineering Excellence Awards entry requirements have been simplified and are slightly different than the ACEC’s national competition requirements. This simplification is intended to encourage member firms to submit to ACEC of Maine’s competition. Firms wishing to submit to ACEC’s national competition will need to complete some additional requirements and comply with those guidelines that are available online. It is anticipated that most of the effort to enter the Maine competition is transferrable to the national competition. \nThe ACEC of Maine Awards Committee has made every effort to make the competition fair to all firms\, regardless of size or discipline. All firms are urged to submit an entry to showcase a project that they have recently completed. Participation in the program boosts staff morale\, improves client relations\, and assures state-wide publicity. All entries will be posted on ACEC of Maine’s web site (https://eea.acec.org/maine) upon completion of the competition. All participants in the competition will be recognized at ACEC of Maine’s 2025 Fall Forum and Engineering Excellence Awards event on November 13\, 2025. All entrants will make a brief presentation on their EEA submittals at that time. Representatives for all projects should be present and available to accept awards. \nAll applications will be submitted electronically\, via the ACEC of Maine EEA portal. Instructions for submittal are below. Please contact ACEC of Maine Executive Director\, Tanya Griffeth\, at info@acecmaine.com or (207) 557-0939 or Kevin Cooley\, P.E. at Kleinschmidt Associates (207-416-1272) with questions. \nThe deadline for submitting ACEC of Maine entries is Friday\, October 10\, 2025. Judging will take place the week of October 13\, 2025. Awards will be presented at ACEC of Maine’s Fall Forum and Engineering Excellence Awards event on November 13\, 2025.

SUMMARY:B2H (Business to Human) Marketing in the Age of Robots
DESCRIPTION:October 28\, 2025 from 1:30-2:30 PM Eastern \n\nFor decades\, AEC firms have built business and client relationships through highly personal and in-person interactions. Then\, digital transformation\, the convergence of B2B and B2C experiences\, the generational hand-off and the long-lasting effects of the pandemic forever changed the “how” of building relationships in the new\, digital-first environment. \nNow\, AI is disrupting every industry with the promise of personalization and tailored experiences – automated relationships at scale. With the lines between “human” and “artificial\,” “real” and “fake” getting blurry\, trust and relationships have become the most valuable business currency. \nIn this new technological revolution\, even digital natives like Gen Z are looking for more human-like interactions and experiences. So\, how do you balance the need for AI’s speed\, power and automation to meet today’s business customers’ expectations of immediate\, always-on digital experience and the value of “human touch”? \nThe next phase in marketing is about balancing high tech and high touch to get more personal with your audiences by strategically and effectively using tools we’ve never had available to us before. \nThe session will show how by harnessing the power of AI to scale your marketing while combining it with human-only strategies that build trust in today’s digital-first business environment\, you can propel your firm (and your career) forward. \nThe program will provide practical\, actionable insights and a new toolkit (and ammunition) you can take back to your firm. SUMMARY:Firm of the Future: Workforce Study – Engineering’s Talent Pipeline and Future Demand
DESCRIPTION:The engineering industry is confronting one of the most significant workforce challenges in its history. This session will present new findings from the recent Firm of the Future study on Workforce\, which combines national demographic data and original research to provide a comprehensive view of the engineering talent pipeline. Drawing on sources such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics\, the study examines trends in the number of workers entering the profession\, retirements expected over the coming decade\, and the role of immigration in shaping the availability of skilled engineers. \nIn addition to demographic analysis\, the session will highlight insights from a national survey of engineering firms\, students\, and professionals across career stages. Findings reveal how motivations\, career expectations\, and employer perceptions vary across generations and between engineers and non-engineers within the firm. \nThe presentation will include commentary from ACEC Workforce Committee Chair\, Rodney Chester\, who will share perspectives and insights on how these findings translate into challenges and opportunities for engineering firms. \nKey Takeaways:\n• Understand demographic trends influencing the engineering workforce\, including education\, retirements\, and immigration flows.\n• Gain insights from surveys of engineering firms and students about motivations\, perceptions\, and expectations.\n• Explore strategies firms can use to attract\, retain\, and develop the next generation of engineering talent.\n• Hear expert commentary on the implications of the research for firm leaders and industry stakeholders. \nPresenters:\nJoesph Bates\, Senior Research Consultant\, ACEC Research Institute\nRodney Chester\, CEO & Board Chair\, Gresham Smith and Chair\, ACEC Workforce Committee \n

SUMMARY:BD in a Box: Empowering Growth at Engineering Firms
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, December 2\, 2025 from 1:30-2:30 PM Eastern \nEngineers are problem solvers\, innovators\, and builders—not marketers or salespeople. Yet in professional services\, business growth depends on relationships\, trust\, and visibility. Clients hire engineering firms because of their people and expertise. That’s why business development (BD) can’t be left to a sales team alone—it must be part of the firm’s culture. \n\n\nThe challenge? Traditional BD often feels unnatural\, time-consuming\, and far removed from engineers’ day-to-day work. \n\n\n“BD in a Box” changes that by harnessing the power of AI to make business development simpler\, smarter\, and more efficient. \n\n\nThis session introduces an AI-enabled framework that helps mid-level and senior engineering managers use AI tools to generate content\, prepare for client conversations\, strengthen relationships\, and track opportunities with ease. \n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\nStep-by-step guidance to build BD habits without feeling like a “salesperson”\nReferral Source Enhancement\nAI-Powered Efficiency\n\nPresenter: Debra Andrews\, President & Founder\, Marketri LLC
