Legislative Update: H.R. 6021, the “Families First Coronavirus Response Act”

On March 14, 2020, the House passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (H.R. 6201) by a vote of 363-40, and on March 16, 2020 the House approved significant modifications to H.R. 6201 that are designed to mitigate the impact on employers.  The Senate passed H.R. 6201 as amended by the House on March 18, 2020, and shortly thereafter the President signed it into law.

FMI Forecasts Downward Trend in Several Market Sectors Due to Coronavirus

The more quickly we see a downward trend in the number of new Coronavirus cases, the more quickly the economy will stabilize and rebound. The level of government and public reaction to the outbreak will be the primary factors in how long infection levels continue to climb. A recession is the likely result, but since underlying economic fundamentals were strong going into the pandemic, there is a chance for a reasonably rapid rebound.

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services announced the acquisition of Adams Consulting Engineers, Inc. headquartered in Dallas with additional offices in Austin and Tyler, Texas. The acquisition, only the second in Langan’s 50-year history, helps accelerate the firm’s growth in Texas, where Langan has operated since 2015 in Houston. With this move, Langan now has more than 1,300 employees across 36 offices.
