ACEC Convention Features Top Speakers, Congressional Visits, EEA Gala, Washington, D.C., May 5-8

An all-star lineup of speakers will headline the upcoming 2019 ACEC Convention and Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., May 5-8.

FOX News Host Dana Perino and former interim head of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile will share the stage to present their differing views about the current state of American politics and where they think the nation’s politics are heading.

Best-selling author and business consultant Salim Ismail will address how firms can position themselves to capitalize on opportunities in the rapidly changing business environment.

ACEC Chair Manish Kothari and President/CEO Linda Bauer Darr with moderate a panel of key stakeholder organization leaders in a discussion of current industry issues and the political state of play between a divided Congress and the White House. The panel will include: Edison Electric Institute CEO Thomas Kuhn, Associated General Contractors of America CEO Stephen Sandherr, American Public Transportation Association President/CEO Paul Skoutelas, Waterways Council President/CEO Mike Toohey, and AASHTO CEO Jim Tymon.

A centerpiece of the Annual Convention is the Capitol Hill visits. Hundreds of Council members meet with their Congressional delegations to advocate for key industry objectives. ACEC lobbyists will lead a Congressional Briefing to outline the Council’s legislative agenda.

On Tuesday evening, May 7, the black-tie Engineering Excellence Awards Gala–the “Academy Awards of the Engineering Industry”–will celebrate the best engineering projects of 2018.

The Convention also features CEO rountables and dozens of business education session.s
