ACEC Joins Celebration of Construction on the National Mall

ACEC Joins Celebration of Construction on the National Mall

This week, ACEC participated in the Construction on the National Mall festival in Washington, D.C.

The event brought together organizations and companies to celebrate infrastructure as the backbone of America. As advocates for the industry, ACEC discussed the vital role engineering firms play in sustainability efforts and how we are rethinking traditional approaches to complex infrastructure challenges.

Congressmen Rep. Bruce Westerman, Rep. Rick Larsen, and Rep. Mike Ezell stopped by the ACEC table to talk about the future of engineering and construction. On the main stage, ACEC EVP Steve Hall discussed workforce issues on a panel with other association executives. Additional VIPs that visited the celebration included Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and White House Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator Mitch Landrieu.

The celebration also showcased an array of innovations that are enabling our industry to sustainably build the infrastructure making modern society possible.

Exhibits focusing on workforce development, worker safety, sustainable materials and best practices spoke to the tapestry that is modern construction. The event engaged members of Congress, regulators and their staff during the three-day event as an opportunity to learn more about the industry, our efforts in innovation and sustainability, and the sector’s positive impact on the American economy.
