ACEC President/CEO Darr Invites Council Members to Virtual Board of Directors Meeting on Saturday, April 25

To the ACEC Community,

The innovation and determination that make for a great engineer are serving our industry well during this pandemic. We have heard from many members about the bold and imaginative steps they are taking to continue to serve their clients and to keep their teams both productive and safe. Some firms have even found the silver lining in this dark crisis, reporting that their older employees are becoming more comfortable with technology, their electronic invoicing has improved, and their staff has become more involved in lobbying and government affairs.

In past years, this week we would be putting the finishing touches on our Annual Convention & Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., and many of you would be coming to Washington, D.C. to conduct Council business, advocate for our industry, participate in classes, celebrate our industry at the EEA Gala, and network with your colleagues from around the country.

This year, however, isn’t like any other.

Nevertheless, I invite all of you to attend our first-ever virtual Board of Directors meeting this Saturday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Eastern. During the meeting, you will hear about how the Council is continuing to serve our members during the current crisis while at the same time staying focused on our strategic goals. We will also welcome our new Board Chair and Executive Committee members and hear from the Chair of the new ACEC Research Institute. It will be a fast-paced meeting and I hope you can attend. Click here to log into the online Board of Directors meeting on Saturday.

Advocating for engineering on Capitol Hill has always been an integral part of our Convention and we are working with our State Organizations and industry groups to organize a virtual legislative fly-in in the coming weeks, including a grassroots letter-writing campaign, member teleconferences with Congressional members and staff, and a social media blitz. Stay tuned for more soon.

One of our most successful initiatives during this crisis has been our series of complimentary online classes to help firms deal with the coronavirus pandemic. By the end of the week, we will have delivered more than a dozen free webinars and roundtables, with about 3000 participants. Building on that enthusiasm, we have put together a strong schedule of online classes and roundtables over the next several weeks. Among other issues, the classes will address teleworking productivity, what the economy will look post-COVID-19, and how to deal with stress in these uncertain times. Click here to view the full schedule.

As always, the team at ACEC National is here to support you.  If you have any questions or need assistance with anything, please reach out.

Stay safe,

Linda Bauer Darr
