ACEC Symposium to Focus on Health Care & Science+Technology Market, April 28-29, in Boston

ACEC will present our latest Private Markets Symposium on the Health Care & Science+Technology Market, April 28-29, in Boston.

The U.S. health care facilities market will be one of the fastest growing construction sectors over the next four years. It was the only institutional building segment to increase in 2021, and FMI forecasts that it will expand by almost 6 percent annually through 2025, when it will be a $62 billion market.

Three factors are driving this market. First, the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed capacity limitations across health systems of all sizes and accelerated investment to address these shortfalls. Second, the rapid pace of technological development in the sector demands constant expansion and upgrading of its infrastructure. Third—and most important—the aging of the U.S. population will continue to fuel ongoing long-term increases in health-care construction.

Understandably, engineering firm leaders are very optimistic about this growing market. In the ACEC Research Institute’s latest Engineering Business Sentiment survey, the Medical Facilities sector ranked in the top tier of optimism based on future market performance.

The two-day program will feature experts offering their insights and analysis on the key trends and opportunities in the market; roundtable discussions facilitated by ACEC to connect you with peers to discuss the critical key issues in the sector; and plenty of opportunities for you to network with clients and market leaders.

There is no better location for this program than Boston. With more than 1,000 biotech companies headquartered in the Greater Boston area, it is the top global biotech hub, generating some of the most innovative developments in the manufacture of treatments and diagnostics. In addition, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts General Hospital, and other leading academic institutions provide a vast pool of exceptional scientific talent.

The symposium will address a range of facility types including hospitals, outpatient centers, medical office buildings (MOBs), laboratories, and production and administrative space for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and university clients. And we will cover the full menu of engineering services provided to these clients, including structural, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, HVAC, and commissioning.

If your firm is active in the Medical Facilities & Science+Technology sector or is looking to enter the market, this is a can’t-miss opportunity. It will give you a crash course in what you need to know about the present and future of the sector, and the chance to establish relationships with many of the key players in the market.
