Convention Lobbying Program to Focus on Infrastructure, Energy and Workforce

Convention Lobbying Program to Focus on Infrastructure, Energy and Workforce

ACEC’s “citizen lobbyists” will storm Capitol Hill next week with a lobbying agenda addressing timely and front-burner issues affecting the industry.

The focus of the effort will be passage of major infrastructure legislation—including roads and bridges, transit systems, airports, and water infrastructure, but also incentives for vertical projects. ACEC members will also advocate for policies to address the shortage of engineering talent, as well as initiatives to promote sustainable energy projects. “Our lobbying program is the most critical element of the Annual Convention,” said ACEC President/CEO Linda Bauer Darr. “With Congress and the White House talking about working together on infrastructure, we have an unprecedented opportunity to get it done.”

The advocacy program will also feature a panel of industry stakeholder CEOs from AASHTO, APTA, Edison Electric, AGC and the Waterways Council, education sessions on issues and markets.

ACEC will also host a reception for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). This is a unique opportunity for leaders in our industry to spend time with one of the most important political figures in Washington today. ACEC worked closely with McConnell in the passage of the FAST Act and the recent tax reform law, and he will play a critical role in moving major infrastructure legislation this year.
