Former Energy Secretary Moniz Offers Framework for Deeply Decarbonized Economy
Former Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz unveiled the Green Real Deal (GRD) last week, calling it a practical plan to tackle the climate crisis.
The plan, which was prepared by the Energy Futures Initiative, is “an actionable framework for meeting deep decarbonization of energy and associated systems by midcentury in ways that minimize costs, maximize economic opportunities, accelerate solutions, and promote social equity.”
The GRD includes both overarching principles, such innovation and social equality, and actionable elements, such as carbon pricing, trageted investments, and workforce training.
