Former ExCom Member William Cooke Passes Away

William Cooke, the only ACEC Mississippi member to serve on the ACEC Executive Committee, died on March 17 at the age of 91.

Cooke co-founded the engineering firm Cooke, Douglass, Farr & Lemons in Jackson more than 60 years ago, building it from a three-person operation to one employing more than 50 people and designing projects across the country. From 1992-1994, he served on the ACEC ExCom.

He was an influential business leader, serving on the White House Small Business Leadership Council under President George H.W. Bush. He was also active in his community, working with the Boys and Girls Club and Junior Achievement, consulting on the Jackson and Meridian children’s museums, and designing Timber Creek Camp.

The family asks that memorials and gifts be made to BreakThru Ministries/Timber Creek Camp at 8113 Morton Marathon Rd, Pulaski, MS in honor of Bill Cooke.
