Simpler, Kothari Wrap Up U.S. Commerce Department Trade Mission to Southeast Asia

ACEC Chair Mitch Simpler and former Chair Manish Kothari are wrapping up their week-long trade mission to Southeast Asia with U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Over the course of six days, Simpler and Kothari represented ACEC at the annual Indo-Pacific Business Forum in Bangkok, Thailand and in meetings with ministers and other high-ranking officials in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, including Indonesian President Joko Widodo (left in photo).

The mission, said Simpler, “gave us the opportunity to show these nations with vibrant and growing economies what ACEC and the U.S. engineering industry bring to the table.”

ACEC’s participation in the overseas mission complements the Council’s advocacy work to promote the expansion of trade in consulting engineering services and protect critical qualifications, standards and licensing regulations that are essential to the industry’s success in the international market.
