CASE Tool 1-2: Developing a Culture of Quality CASE Toolkit
Committee Culture is hard to define in an organization but it is a key part of what gives a design firm character and underlies many of the decisions made in the practice. A significant part of a firm’s culture needs to focus on quality and it needs to be infused throughout an organization. Without quality, a design practice cannot exist for the long term. Poor quality will be reflected in dissatisfied clients, loss of repeat business, legal claims, lack of employee engagement, and increased business risk. On the other hand, producing high-quality work will result in satisfied clients who provide opportunities for future business, reduced legal claims, more satisfied employees, and higher profit margins due to less rework.
CASE Tool No. 1-2, Developing a Culture of Quality was developed to identify some ways to drive quality into a firm’s culture. It is recognized that every firm will develop its own approach to developing a culture of quality but following these 10 key areas offer a substantial starting point. The tool includes the attached white paper and PowerPoint presentation that can be customized to facilitate the overall discussion.
