ACEC/PAC was established for the purpose to elect candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate who support the policies and legislation that positively affect the engineering industry. ACEC/PAC is currently the largest federal PAC in the design industry and has grown more than 500% in 10 years. In 2016, the PAC distributed $13,000 to the SD leadership which is twice as much than what was collected from our membership. Consequently, the engineering industry has gained a considerable amount of recognition from our congressional delegates. During our annual trek to Capitol Hill as part of the lobbying efforts, we have seen first-hand the positive role that the PAC influences. We have had the opportunity to personally meet with Senators Rounds and Thune and Congresswoman Noem to discuss issues that are critical to our businesses.
We need your support. As you may know, each state Member Organization (MO) is expected to meet a PAC goal that is based on its membership strength. ACEC/South Dakota’s goal for 2017 is $5,068. The contributions made by our members to date are $1,175. We are at less than 25% towards our goal and thus, the reason we are writing to you today.
We are asking for a contribution of $200 or more from each ACEC/SD Voting Member to help us reach our goal. Any amount would be appreciated, but we’re suggesting $200 or more from principals or senior staff.
The payment must be personal checks or personal credit cards made payable to ACEC/PAC. A fun way to contribute is to purchase a raffle ticket (it is attached) and be entered into a drawing for monetary prizes. The raffle winners will be drawn at the ACEC Fall Conference in Orlando, FL and you do not need to be present to win -- first prize is $10,000!
In 2018, we will experience a change in leadership in Washington, D.C. We need those PAC funds to help us elect the candidate that will be willing to be our voice on issues that affect the engineering industry that have a decided impact on our businesses.
You can send your personal check or credit card payment directly to ACEC/PAC, 1015 - 15th Street, N.W., 8thFloor, Washington, D.C. 20005-2605), or online at http://www.acec.org/advocacy/advocacy-pac/.
Let us know if you have any questions. This is very important to all of us in the industry and we appreciate your contributions to help us reach our goal.
