Advocacy and Marketing Committee
Board Liaison - Aaron Christie
The Advocacy and Marketing Committee focuses on strengthening ACEC Alaska’s membership base and promoting engagement across the organization. The committee assists with planning and coordinating the annual meeting, developing year-end brochures that highlight key accomplishments, and leading efforts to recruit new and affiliate members. In addition, the committee supports the organization’s social activities, helping to plan and host events that foster professional relationships. It also supports social media campaigns and ensures that ACEC Alaska’s website remains current and reflects the organization’s ongoing initiatives and achievements.
Education Committee
Board Liaison - Aaron Christie
The role of the Education Committee is to provide consistent and high-quality business educational programming, enhance content on the ACEC AK website and newsletter, and partner with the industry to offer educational opportunities. The Education Committee’s focus is on training on recruiting, retaining, and growing our industry. Specifically, the committee continues to seek opportunities to partner with the Anchorage School District and the University of Alaska Anchorage to promote the field of civil engineering, given the decreasing enrollment at UAA.
Legislative Committee
Board Liaison - Matt Stone
The ACEC Legislative Committee promotes the engineering industry by engaging with policymakers, tracking legislation, and advocating for policies that support infrastructure investment and business conditions. The committee fosters relationships with government officials, educates members on key legislative issues, and encourages active involvement in advocacy efforts to ensure the engineering community’s voice is heard.
Municipality of Anchorage
Board Liaison - Kyle Brennan
Committee The Municipality of Anchorage Committee serves as the primary point of coordination between ACEC Alaska and the Municipality of Anchorage. The committee serves as a platform for dialogue between the Municipality and the private engineering industry on municipal policies, project delivery, contracting, and other non-project- specific topics that impact the support engineering contractors provide to the Municipality. Its purpose is to strengthen relationships, promote consistency and transparency, increase the effectiveness of the partnership between the Municipality of Anchorage and its engineering contractors, and support effective project delivery for the Municipality.
USACE Committee
Board Liaison - Chris Miller
The COE Steering Committee meets regularly with the Engineering Leadership at Corp of Engineers Alaska District to discuss topics relevant to the engineering industry. Topics include technical issues specific to one discipline, Cybersecurity for federal contracting, future COE work, Heavy Civil Engineering related to the Civil Works program, Environmental remediation work, and Military Construction program. The goal of the committee is to share information that is not contract or project-specific, helping the engineering community and COE work together to deliver quality, efficient projects for Alaska.
Steering Committee
Board Liaison - Sarah Schacher
The DOT Steering Committee meets with DOT division and commissioner-level leadership periodically to discuss issues of mutual concern, including procurement practice, latest DOT organizational developments, funding programs, and potential upcoming RFPs. The goal of this committee is to address common concerns among member firms that work on DOT projects, while keeping communication lines open so the consulting community can best anticipate and support DOT’s needs.
