Mission

To foster open, collaborative, and solutions-oriented communication between the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the consulting engineering community to improve project delivery, policy clarity, and overall transportation outcomes for the state.

Purpose

  • Serve as a consistent forum for dialogue between NMDOT leadership and ACEC-NM member firms.
  • Identify and resolve systemic issues affecting transportation design, procurement, funding/legislative, training and construction processes.
  • Promote mutual understanding of policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Provide industry input on proposed changes to standards, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Strengthen partnerships and support innovation that benefits New Mexico’s transportation network.

Objectives

  1. Improve Communication: Streamline information sharing between NMDOT and engineering consultants.
  2. Promote Transparency: Clarify processes related to procurement, contracting, and funding.
  3. Enhance Efficiency: Identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve project timelines.
  4. Support Professional Practice: Address concerns related to QA/QC, liability, deliverables, and subconsultant management.
  5. Advocate for Fair Policies: Provide feedback on NMDOT initiatives that impact consultant business practices.
