Mission
To foster open, collaborative, and solutions-oriented communication between the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the consulting engineering community to improve project delivery, policy clarity, and overall transportation outcomes for the state.
Purpose
- Serve as a consistent forum for dialogue between NMDOT leadership and ACEC-NM member firms.
- Identify and resolve systemic issues affecting transportation design, procurement, funding/legislative, training and construction processes.
- Promote mutual understanding of policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Provide industry input on proposed changes to standards, specifications, and guidelines.
- Strengthen partnerships and support innovation that benefits New Mexico’s transportation network.
Objectives
- Improve Communication: Streamline information sharing between NMDOT and engineering consultants.
- Promote Transparency: Clarify processes related to procurement, contracting, and funding.
- Enhance Efficiency: Identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve project timelines.
- Support Professional Practice: Address concerns related to QA/QC, liability, deliverables, and subconsultant management.
