Each year, the Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) celebrates the outstanding achievements of Montana’s engineering firms. From groundbreaking transportation solutions to innovative environmental designs, these awards showcase the very best in engineering excellence.

Firms are required to submit their Intent to Enter by late summer timeframe.  For this year the timeline is below: 

Deadline to Submit Intent to Enter: August 28, 2026

Full Entries Due: September 18, 2026

Judging Panel Done: September 21 – October 9, 2026

Winners Announced On: October 12, 2026

Engineering Excellence Awards Dinner: November 4, 2026
Location: Delta Hotel Helena Colonial, Helena, MT

Awards Categories include:

  • Grand
  • Studies, Research, and Consulting (Category A)
  • Building/Technology Systems (Category B)
  • Structural Systems (Category C)
  • Surveying and Mapping Technology (Category D)
  • Environmental (Category E)
  • Water and Wastewater (Category F)
  • Water Resources (Category G)
  • Transportation (Category H)
  • Special Projects (Category I)
  • Small Projects (Category J
  • Energy (Category K)
  • Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities (Category L)
  • Small Firm Category (25 FTE or less)

JUDGING GUIDELINES

  1. Judges will evaluate and score each project individually. Use the judging spread sheet to enter the scores for each project.  (Definition of rating guidelines attached.)
  2. Architecture should not add or detract from project.
  3. Scores from each judge will be entered on a tally sheet.
  4. Scores will then be totaled and averaged.
  5. Winners will be selected based on total scores from all judges.
  6. One honor award will be given per category.

  2. Future Value to the Engineering Profession and Perception by the Public
  3. Social/Economic and Sustainable Design Considerations
  4. Complexity
  5. Meeting and Exceeding Owner’s/Client’s Needs
