Risk Management in the Age of Collaboration: Design-Build, IPD, and Emerging Technologies

June 3 | 1:00–2:30 PM ET
Online Education | CASE

Design-build and other collaborative delivery models continue to reshape how engineering services are delivered. While these approaches can create efficiency and strong project relationships, they also introduce shifts in responsibility, expectations, and risk allocation that firms must understand before committing resources.

This 90-minute online program will examine how risk changes in design-build and integrated project environments, where breakdowns most commonly occur, and how structural engineering firms can evaluate opportunities with clarity and confidence. Special attention will be given to maintaining sound engineering judgment as collaboration expands and digital tools and shared data become more prevalent.

The session will be led by Karen Erger of Lockton, a nationally recognized risk management and insurance advisor to engineering firms. Karen brings extensive experience working with design professionals across the country and will provide practical insight into how contracts, delivery structures, and evolving technologies affect firm exposure and long-term stability. A structural engineering case study panelist will join the discussion to provide perspective from the firm side.
