The ACEC has just launched the Rescue/Recover/Rebuild advocacy campaign urging Congress to invest in an infrastructure-based recovery legislative agenda. ACEC has also been a long-time advocate for other legislative successes, particularly in the tax code, that have helped engineering firms hire and retain talent, grow, and stay competitive. For instance, many companies are taking advantage of tax incentives like R&D Tax Credits that have been championed by ACEC, but there are others that are underutilized and could help engineering firms right now when they need it most.

This course will focus on one such tax incentive – 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deduction. This federal tax benefit incentivizes engineering firms to design and invest in sustainable buildings. The value of the incentive is $1.80 per square foot of an energy-efficient building and available to engineering firms that design government buildings such as K-12 schools, state university buildings, airports, penitentiaries, courthouses, and more. This course will include the following:

  • 179D Basics
