In the U.S. Census Bureau’s Advance Quarterly Services Report for the second quarter of 2020 (April-June), A/E sector revenues totaled $80.2 billion, a 9 percent decline from same quarter last year and a 7 percent decline from the first quarter of 2020.

The second quarter is important benchmark becasuse it was the first full quarter to bear the brunt of the of the COVID-19 recession. Economic declines began after the pandemic-related shutdowns started in mid-March, near the end of the first quarter.
