ACEC/VA & ACEC/Metro Washington Score QBS Victory With Minuteman Fund Support
Earlier this week, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam signed a new law to close a loophole in the state’s Public Procurement Act that allowed local governments to exempt themselves from QBS and adopt their own tailored procurement acts allowing price into the selection methodology.
Closing this loophole was the direct result of advocacy efforts by ACEC/Virginia and ACEC/Metro Washington, with assistance from a Minuteman Fund grant from ACEC/National.
“The financial support provided through the Minuteman Fund helped us do the critical up-front work to aggressively tackle this issue,” said ACEC/VA Advocacy Chair Tim Groover of Wiley|Wilson, Inc. “It’s impressive to see our ACEC/Virginia leadership, our lobbyists, and ACEC/National pull together so effectively to achieve this big win for our Member Firms.”
The Minuteman Fund is ACEC’s most powerful resource for helping Member Organizations pursue legislative and legal initiatives of national importance. Click here for more information.
