Katie Goodman was recently named a Young & Aspiring Association Professional by Association Trends. Only four association professionals were recognized with this honor which is presented to a class of outstanding association executives all under the age of 40.
Katie has been with ACEC for more than 10 years. Starting as a program manager in the Coalitions department, she was responsible for driving member recruitment campaigns and revamping the invoicing process for member firms.
In 2015, she was tapped assist with the creation of Pathways to Executive Leadership, ACEC’s program for mid-career professionals from member firms. Pathways to Executive Leadership serves as ACEC’s first hybrid program offering a combination of in-person and virtual learning. The course has sold out every year since its inception and become the cornerstone of ACEC’s leadership education.
In 2018, she was promoted to Director of Leadership, overseeing all ACEC leadership education, which offers options for development for all levels of the firm. This transition included taking over ACEC’s capstone leadership program, the Senior Executives Institute, a 30-year-old program that is an important stream of revenue for the association.
Under her tenure, the program has enhanced its relevance and prominence, selling out every year. In 2020, the pandemic allowed her to launch ACEC’s Young Professionals Forum, for early career engineers looking for education on management and mental health in an uncertain time for firms. Over 250 individuals participated in these virtual series and continue to be engaged in ACEC’s conferences and education.
She also used this time to transition the Business of Design Consulting, ACEC’s course for emerging leaders, to a virtual platform for those with limited travel budgets or availability.
In 2023, Katie was promoted to vice president of education and leadership programs, leading the team in charge of ACEC’s online education, conference education, and 7 membership committees.
