America’s engineering industry extends its congratulations to President Donald J. Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. The engineering community is ready to work with the administration on its vision for advancing American innovation, infrastructure, and industry.
Investments in infrastructure are investments in the nation’s future, ensuring safer, more efficient systems that serve all Americans while bolstering economic growth.
From modernizing transportation networks to building sustainable energy systems, our industry stands ready to collaborate with the administration to address critical challenges and seize opportunities that will strengthen the foundation of America’s economy.
As we look forward to a collaborative relationship with the administration, Congress, and other stakeholders to advance policies that drive innovation, sustainability, and prosperity, ACEC will focus its advocacy priorities on four core areas:
- Tax policies that support business growth – including a continuation of the 2017 tax law and restoring the deductibility of R&D expenses to promote American innovation;
- Expanding the workforce – we view immigration policy as economic policy, and immigration reform that includes lifting the cap on H-1B visas will enable America’s engineering industry and other innovation industries to get the talent they need to win in the competitive global marketplace;
- Expanding energy markets – through fully developing America’s energy resources, both traditional oil and gas to nuclear and the range of sustainable green energy sources; and
- Investing in America’s critical infrastructure – through a robust reauthorization of federal highway and transit programs in the new Congress, as well as continued investment in critical water, energy, aviation, and other infrastructure sectors.
Once again, congratulations to President Trump on this momentous occasion. We look forward to working alongside his administration to achieve a brighter, more dynamic future for the United States.
