U.S. Energy Storage Deployments Increase 232 Percent Year-over-Year
More than 148 megawatts of energy storage were deployed in the first quarter (Q1) of 2019, a 232 percent increase over Q1 2018, according to the Wood Mackenzie U.S. Energy Storage Monitor. Front-of-the-meter (FTM) deployments rose more than 500 percent year-over-year.
The top markets for FTM deployments were New Jersey, Arizona, and Massachusetts. California led the way in both residential and non-residential behind-the-meter deployments.
According to Wood Mackenzie, energy storage deployments in 2019 are set to double compared to 2019. By 2024 annual deployments will exceed 4.5 gigawatts and the market will total $4.8 billion.
