Arethia Douglas began her employment with Broward County Transit in 2006 as a Construction Project Manager managing the Bus Stop Infrastructure group. In this position she oversaw ADA, bus shelter and transit facilities improvements. In 2018, she was promoted to Expansion Project Administrator responsible for the implementation of the new electric bus infrastructure and associated emerging technologies. In 2021, Arethia was promoted to Assistant General Manager and now manages the Capital Programs Division where she is responsible for the implementation of all Transit Capital Infrastructure projects under the Bus Rapid Transit Program, Transit Facilities, Facilities Maintenance, Electric Bus Program, Bus Shelter and ADA Programs.

Prior to joining Broward County Transit, Arethia started her career in 1993 at the New York City Transit Authority working in the Capital Program Management Department designing electrical distribution systems associated with the renovation and rehabilitation of numerous subway stations and transitioned to managing the coordination and oversight of various capital improvement construction projects.

Arethia obtained her Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering at the City College of New York, and she received her Professional Engineering license in 2001. In her free time, Arethia enjoys spending time at the beach with a good book.
