Studt is the recipient of the Montana Governor’s Award for Excellence in Performance for Swamp Creek – East, a design challenge for many years due to the unique 20-foot-thick peat layer, very soft soil extending to 100 feet deep and groundwater within a few feet of the surface. materials saved taxpayers millions of dollars in construction cost versus a road constructed on top of a deep foundation through this swamp area or a road moved across the valley to the mountainside and more stable ground. As project manager, Studt shared in the 2024 ACEC Engineering Excellent Award for the Higgins Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation successfully refurbishing the bridge in a manner that fulfilled structural needs and significantly improved accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians.
