Matthew Preedy has been delivering highway and transit Public Works projects in the Puget Sound region for over 32 years. Upon receiving his BSCE from the University of Washington in 1992, Mr. Preedy began his professional career with the Washington State DOT as a field materials inspector, eventually culminating his WSDOT experience 23 years later as the Design & Construction Program Director and Deputy Administrator for the SR99 Alaskan Way Viaduct removal/replacement Program, including the world’s largest diameter bored tunnel under downtown Seattle, WA.
Currently, Mr. Preedy is the Director of the Construction Management Division at Sound Transit, involved in delivering multiple light rail, commuter rail and bus rapid transit projects exceeding $75B across all phases. Mr. Preedy is engaged with innovative risk assessment and management methodologies, along with capturing and developing best practices and associated specifications for Design-Build, Heavy Civil GCCM, Target Price with Incentives, Fixed-Price Variable Scope, and Sound Transit’s forthcoming first Progressive Design-Build effort. He believes that collaboration and engagement with industry is essential to achieving mutual success, routinely presenting at professional forums with AGC, CMAA, DBIA and UCA of SME.
