Washington, D.C. – The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the business voice of America’s engineering and design services industry, today announced Susan Krys’ appointment to Senior Vice President for Meetings, Exhibits & Awards, Megan Carbone as Manager, Meeting and Events, and Thomas Grogan’s appointment as Senior Director, Economics and Private Markets.

Susan Krys will succeed Michael Pramstaller, who earlier this year announced his retirement after 13 years with the Council. During his tenure at ACEC, Mike built an industry-leading events program. Under his leadership, the Engineering Excellence Awards has become the industry’s most respected juried awards program, celebrated yearly with a highly produced black tie gala event.

“Mike Pramstaller has left an indelible mark on ACEC though his years of dedication to the Council and its member firms,” said Linda Bauer Darr, ACEC president & CEO. “His retirement is well earned, and Susan Krys is the right person at the right moment to build a world-class events program on the solid foundation Mike forged. We could not be more pleased to welcome her to the team.”

A well-respected and experienced events executive, Susan will assume oversight over the Council’s two annual industry events and its scholarship and award programs, including the celebrated Engineering Excellence Awards Gala. Susan will also have a key role in non-dues revenue generation, focusing on affiliate member recruitment and growth in exhibit, advertising, and sponsorship revenue.

She brings to ACEC more than three decades of event management experience. She spent four years as Vice President with the Plastics Industry Association, where she led the conception, planning, and production of its trade show, the fifth largest in the U.S.

Supporting Susan Krys and the Meetings and Events team will be Megan Carbone, who joins ACEC as Manager, Meetings and Events. Megan comes to ACEC with considerable front office and operations experience in the hospitality sector, previously serving as a Conference Services and Special Events Manager at the Jefferson Hotel and the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City.

Switching to ACEC’s Business Resources and Education Department, Thomas Grogan joins ACEC from StreetLight Data, where he spent several years in progressively responsible roles, most recently serving as Senior Market Development Analyst. Before that, he was with Vergys, LLC as a senior associate, providing management consulting for Federal client engagements with the Transportation Security Administration. Grogan also spent several years as an economist with HDR, Inc.

Grogan’s portfolio as Senior Director, Economics and Private Markets will include economic and market analysis focusing on the leading private market sectors where ACEC’s member firms are engaged. He brings to ACEC more than a decade of experience distilling complex data and economic analyses into accessible language for executives, government agencies, and private markets as a translator between economics experts and laypersons.
