ACEC Statement on the Bipartisan Senate Infrastructure Agreement
America’s Engineers Urge the Senate to Work Together to Deliver on Infrastructure for the American People
Washington, DC – Linda Bauer Darr, the President and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies, released the following statement upon the announcement that an agreement on the bipartisan infrastructure package had been reached:
“Today’s announcement that a deal has been reached on a bipartisan infrastructure package is a huge step forward for the country, and America’s engineering industry is ready to get to work designing the infrastructure of the future. Much work still needs to be done to deliver the agreement to the President, and for this reason we urge lawmakers to work together to get it done. We have a generational opportunity before us to accomplish something that will benefit the nation for years to come, not only in terms of economic growth but also in an improved quality of life for every American. We urge every member of the Senate to vote yes on cloture and move forward on infrastructure.”
A recent economic analysis from ACEC estimates that the bipartisan agreement would create more than 82,000 full and part-time jobs in engineering and design services, generate $62 billion in A/E industry wages and add $75 billion to GDP. Overall, the proposal would lead to a 6% average annual increase in engineering and design services sector activity over the next six years.
