Mike Carragher Receives ACEC Distinguished Service Award
The ACEC Research Institute congratulates Mike Carragher, Chair & CEO of VHB and Past Chair of the ACEC Research Institute, on receiving ACEC’s Distinguished Service Award recognizing exceptional leadership and service to the consulting engineering profession.
In a new video published by ACEC, Carragher reflects on the people, partnerships, and purpose-driven mindset that have shaped his career and his service to the Institute and the broader ACEC community.
During his tenure as Institute Chair (2023–2025), Carragher helped guide some of the Institute’s most ambitious work, including the Firm of the Future initiative that convened industry leaders to explore how engineering firms will evolve by 2035—spanning strategy, technology, workforce, and business models.
“Mike brought people together to think big—and to think forward,” said Daphne Bryant, Executive Director of the ACEC Research Institute, citing his focus on collaboration, long-term planning, and elevating the Institute’s research agenda.
Carragher’s influence extends beyond research leadership. He has been an advocate for resilient infrastructure, inclusive workplaces, and data-driven decision-making that advances both firm performance and community outcomes—priorities he has highlighted across ACEC platforms and industry forums.
