Craig Ruyle is the Regional Director of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in New York City. In this capacity, he supports the Agency’s mission of preserving, maintaining, operating, and enhancing the safety and condition of the Department’s transportation system by managing the State’s highway and bridge system within New York City. His responsibilities include managing more than 400 employees, overseeing the design and construction of the region’s $2.5 billion five-year capital construction program, and ensuring safety measures are in place for the 678 State bridges and 1,000 highway miles on 27 State highways in the Region. Craig received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1990 and a Master of Civil Engineering from City College in 1996. He has been active in the ASCE since 1997, serving as Chair of the Met Section Construction Group from 2004-2006, President of the Met Section from 2009-2010, Chair of the New York State Council from 2012-2013, and President of the ASCE Construction Institute from 2015-2016. He currently serves on the ASCE Region 1 Board of Governors and is active on the Transportation Research Board.
