ACEC Expresses Concern on Increasing Engineering Services Size Standard to $252M – Nearly Ten Times Higher

On September 21, 2026, ACEC expressed concern on proposed changes to the Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards which calls for increasing the current standard of $25.5 million in average annual gross receipts over five years to $252 million, a tenfold increase. After submitting our comments, the SBA extended the comment deadline until November 20, 2026 – after the mid-term elections. We encourage member firms to consider using this additional time to submit their own comments directly to the SBA, and ACEC State organizations are welcome to use ACEC National’s comments as a reference.
