Architectural Billings Index Climbs Back into Positive Territory

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Architectural Billings Index rose in April to 50.5, up from 47.8 in March. Any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings.

While business conditions for architectural firms improved, billings growth remains sluggish, with the percentage of firms reporting increased billings barely exceeding the percentage reporting a decrease.

Looking forward, however, firms reported that both inquiries into new projects and the value of new design contracts improved in April.
