Market Sentiment Climbs in ACEC Research Institute's Ninth COVID Member Survey

Member firm sentiment about the market continues to improve, according to the latest ACEC Research Institute member survey on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the survey of 408 members between February 25 and March 5, 42 percent said their firm's overall finances are better than before the pandemic, up from 32 percent in the eighth survey, which was conducted in September 2020.

A/E Industry 3rd-Quarter Revenues Down 11.8 Year-Over-Year, Flat From 2nd Quarter

The U.S. Census Bureau’s ‘advance estimate’ of total A/E revenues for the third quarter of 2020 (Q3) is $80.08 billion, an 11.8% decline from the same quarter last year. The estimate is less than a half-point improvement from the $79.77 billion in A/E revenues in Q2, which was the first full quarter of the pandemic-caused recession.

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services announced the acquisition of Adams Consulting Engineers, Inc. headquartered in Dallas with additional offices in Austin and Tyler, Texas. The acquisition, only the second in Langan’s 50-year history, helps accelerate the firm’s growth in Texas, where Langan has operated since 2015 in Houston. With this move, Langan now has more than 1,300 employees across 36 offices.
