House Committee Moves Forward on ACEC-Backed Tax Extenders

House Committee Moves Forward on ACEC-Backed Tax Extenders

The House Ways and Means Committee took a key step today toward extending a collection of expired and soon-to-expire tax provisions, approving the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2019 (H.R. 3301), which reinstates the tax extenders for 2018 through 2020.

The bill includes an extension of the Section 179D energy-efficient commercial buildings tax deduction and the Section 45 production tax credit for certain renewable energy sources.

ACEC has actively advocated for these provisions, including during the 2019 Annual Convention and Legislative Summit last month.

In order to offset the cost of the legislation, H.R. 3301 would accelerate a reduction in the estate tax exemption to the end of 2022.

Final action on the tax extenders is not expected until later in the year and could be combined with budget legislation.
