ACEC Calls for Senate Action on Bills to Reduce Greenhouse Emissions

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), ACEC urged action on several bills that promote the development of new technologies to reduce greenhouse emissions.

The bills are:

  • The Nuclear Energy Leadership Act (S. 903), which would recharge American leadership in nuclear energy by facilitating the development of next-generation nuclear energy resources.
  • The Better Energy Storage Technology Act (S. 1602), which would support advances in battery storage technologies, strengthening electric grid integration of renewables and adding adaptive resilience.
  • The Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (S. 2137), which would improve the energy efficiency of buildings, industries and manufacturers, and the federal government, and improve energy security and environmental performance.
  • The Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies Act (S. 383), which would advance CO2 utilization and direct air capture research, permitting, and development.
  • The Enhancing Fossil Fuel Energy Carbon Technology Act of 2019 (S. 1201), which would authorize DOE to support the development of technologies that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, costs, and environmental performance of coal and natural gas use.

“These initiatives, which have strong bipartisan support, advance real solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change in a way that also bolsters American technological leadership in this critical area,” said ACEC President/CEO Linda Bauer Darr.
