ACEC New York made news this week when it awarded engineering student Rosa Taormino a $10,000 scholarship. NBC New York interviewed Rosa and ACEC NY Chair Arthur Alzamora as they discussed the group’s commitment to fostering excellence in the engineering field. Scholarships like this help to address the shortage of engineers in the workforce and highlights the importance of supporting future engineers.

Alzamora expressed that this scholarship both recognizes Taormino’s outstanding achievements and reinforces the industry’s dedication to supporting promising talent.

Taormino, a junior at Manhattan College, was drawn to engineering because of the crucial role engineers play in improving communities and the quality of life for people – especially when it comes to clean drinking water.

Through initiatives like scholarship programs, ACEC continues to inspire and support the next generation of engineering leaders as we create a vibrant and sustainable future for the industry.
