Congress established the Women in Aviation Advisory Board (“the Board”) to address the significant underrepresentation of women in aviation. Although women in aviation have broken through barriers
and made remarkable contributions, the industry has been largely unsuccessful in meaningfully attracting, retaining, and advancing women. In plotting the course of a flight, without corrections for
real-time wind and weather, we will not succeed in navigating to our destination. The same is true for charting the course for the future of our industry. This Board is tasked with checking aviation’s course
and making recommendations to navigate toward a stronger future.
