Resiliency is an overworked, poorly understood, and evolving term as used in describing the built and natural environment. Case in point, the environmental sector has made the term synonymous with "sustainability" while the aviation sector has taken it in a different direction as part of "resilience engineering."

Join JD Solomon to identify the different definitions and applications of the concept of resiliency in engineering. You'll walk away with an operative understanding of resiliency that spans all sectors and provides insight into the interplay of sustainability, resiliency, and risk.

This 60-minute session will include several case studies and the results of the 2017 Resilience Survey of 56 resiliency practitioners in the built, natural, security & safety, and information technology sectors to provide you with a better understanding of how practitioners approach resiliency as it relates to adaptive management, continual improvement, and root cause analysis.

  • Discover different resiliency definition and how they impact project development
  • Understand how to apply resiliency concepts to your designs
  • Identify resiliency approaches related to producing better project outcomes
  • Understand the importance of root cause analysis and continual improvement for lifecycle system management
  • Identify gaps in the knowledge, skills, and abilities of your staff
