You know the feeling. You're well into a design project when issues start to arise, and you find that your hands are tied or that the right action means your firm takes a loss. You're left wishing someone had done a better job of negotiating the contract.

Too often, engineers lack what effective negotiators need to succeed -- skills, techniques, and strategies rooted in understanding the behavior sciences.

Join Gary Bates to examine the elements of human behavior that impact conflict resolution, as well as the seven steps you need to plan and conduct a successful and effective negotiating session. Whether you're part of a single or a multi-disciplinary firm, you'll benefit from a better understanding of:

  • How conflict resolution is related to contract negotiation
  • How to plan for any contract agreement
  • How important it is to understand human behavior for better contracts
  • Tactics to use in a negotiating session
  • The best sequence for negotiating any engineering contract
