Statement by David A. Raymond,
President/CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies

In response to President Obama's proposed 14 percent tax on overseas profits to help fund a six-year, $478 billion public-works program for highway, bridge and transit upgrades.

"The simplest and most practical way to fund infrastructure is through an increase in user fees. Congress and the Administration shouldn't give up on that because it might be politically difficult. But we're pleased that the President and many in Congress are looking for ways to supplement these investments with additional options, including repatriation. We look forward to working with them to advance a solution before the Highway Trust Fund reaches a crisis point again in a few short months."

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is the business association of America’s engineering industry, representing more than 5,000 independent engineering firms and more than 600,000 professionals throughout the U.S. engaged in the development of America’s transportation, water and energy infrastructure, along with environmental, industrial and other public and private facilities. Founded in 1909, ACEC is a national federation of 51 state and regional organizations.
